Correction: Anahita Azarshab is alive
The report that Anahita Azarshab was killed near Alikhani Square was false; hours later, she appeared in a video and said she was alive and safe.

In the early hours of 28 July 2026, as people gathered in Isfahan and two defendants in the Alikhani Square case were executed, social-media posts claimed that a woman named Anahita Azarshab had been shot and killed by security forces.
No independent source had confirmed the claim. IranWire’s initial report explicitly said it could neither independently confirm nor refute the information.
Hours later, a woman identifying herself as Anahita Azarshab appeared in a video, said she was alive, and denied the report of her death. Social channels that had circulated the original claim also posted corrections saying she was safe.
HumanInChain therefore records the claim that Anahita Azarshab was killed as false and is not publishing a victim profile or memorial for her. Rapid circulation of an unverified death claim can harm a living person, her family, and the credibility of human-rights reporting.
