In an urgent action dated May 21, 2026, Amnesty International named Behrouz Zamaninejad and Kourosh Zamaninejad among people facing death sentences in connection with Iran’s January 2026 nationwide protests. Amnesty said both men were among detainees at grave risk of execution on politically motivated charges.
On July 16, 2026, HRANA reported that Branch 32 of Iran’s Supreme Court accepted their retrial request, overturned the death sentences, and referred the case to a parallel branch for renewed proceedings. HRANA said the two had previously been sentenced to death in April 2026 alongside Mohammadreza Majidi-Asl and Bita Hemmati by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Iman Afshari.
HRANA also reported that Behrouz Zamaninejad and Kourosh Zamaninejad were arrested in Tehran on January 9, 2026, and are being held in Greater Tehran Penitentiary. HumanInChain is publishing this report only on the basis of the two named sources and does not add individualized allegations beyond what those sources attribute to the case.
