Three Names, Three Executions: Erfan Esfandiari, Gol-Mohammad Mohammadi and Mehdi Khanki
Two protesters detained in Isfahan were executed on 19 July, and Iran's judiciary announced Mehdi Khanki's execution on 22 July.

Erfan Esfandiari and Gol-Mohammad Mohammadi, both detained during Iran's January 2026 protests, were executed on 19 July 2026 at Isfahan Central Prison, also known as Dastgerd Prison, according to independent human-rights reporting. Iran Human Rights and HRANA reported both executions. Esfandiari was reported to be 18 and Mohammadi 23. Mohammadi was an Afghan national from Herat who had grown up in Isfahan.
Human-rights monitors raised concerns about torture, forced confessions, abbreviated proceedings and denial of a fair trial in the two cases. HumanInChain attributes those findings to the named monitors and did not have direct access to the judicial files.
On 22 July, Mizan, the Iranian judiciary's news agency, announced that Mehdi Khanki's death sentence had been carried out. Authorities accused him of cooperating with foreign groups and possessing weapons. Those state allegations have not been independently established. The official announcement did not disclose the execution's date or location, and independent information about the proceedings remains limited.
Iran Human Rights, HRANA and Iran International also covered the official announcement concerning Khanki. HumanInChain therefore treats 22 July as the date of the public announcement, not necessarily the date of execution.
