Foroozan Ansari Sentenced to One Year in Prison

IranWire reports that Branch 3 of the Bandar Abbas Revolutionary Court has sentenced Foroozan Ansari, a theater actor and civil activist, to one year of ta'zir imprisonment on the charge of “propaganda against the system.” According to the same report, the ruling is a first-instance decision and can still be appealed.
IranWire says Ansari was arrested on 12 January 2026 during the January protests in Bandar Abbas and transferred to an Intelligence Ministry detention facility. The report says she was released on bail after about ten days, that her hearing was held on 6 June 2026, and that the ruling was notified to her on 21 July 2026.
Rojman also reported the one-year prison sentence for Foroozan Ansari and wrote that social-media activity and family ties were cited in the case.
