Isfahan publicly executes Abolfazl Sepahi and Amirhossein Safari
Two defendants in the Alikhani Square case were executed at dawn on 28 July; early reports of three executions were corrected, and Alireza Sepahi’s execution is not confirmed.

Iran’s judiciary announced that Abolfazl Sepahi Badjani and Amirhossein Safari Hosseinabadi were executed publicly in Isfahan at dawn on Tuesday, 28 July 2026. HRANA and Hengaw also reported the two executions, and the Associated Press recorded the same two names from the official announcement.
The two men were defendants in the case arising from the 8 January 2026 protests at Alikhani Square in Isfahan. Human-rights organizations had previously raised concerns about the proceedings, including inadequate access to counsel and reliance on disputed confessions.
In the first hours after the executions, some social posts and an initial version of a Fars News Agency report said that three people had been executed. That report was later changed to two. The official announcement and the independent reports reviewed by HumanInChain name only Abolfazl Sepahi and Amirhossein Safari as executed.
HumanInChain therefore does not report Alireza Sepahi as executed. At publication time, his execution had not been independently confirmed and his status requires urgent clarification.
