HRANA reported that political prisoner Mehrab Abdollahzadeh was executed at dawn on Sunday, May 3, 2026. According to HRANA, the Judiciary said the execution was carried out after the sentence had been confirmed by the Supreme Court.

In its April 30, 2026 report, the Center for Human Rights in Iran (CHRI) identified Mehrab Abdollahzadeh as one of the prisoners at imminent risk of execution after his appeal had been rejected. CHRI said he had been arrested in connection with the 2022 protests and sentenced to death on the charge of corruption on earth through alleged participation in the killing of a Basij member.

HRANA also cited relatives who said Abdollahzadeh was subjected to severe physical and psychological pressure in detention to extract confessions and disputed claims that he had been present at the scene of the killing. HumanInChain is publishing this case on the basis of HRANA's execution report and CHRI's prior documentation of the imminent risk in the same case.
